Chapter Philanthropy

Sigma Kappa supports the following five philanthropic endeavors: the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Gerontology Research, the Maine Sea Coast Mission, and the Alzheimer’s Association. Nationally, Sigma Kappa is known for its commitment to Gerontology and Alzheimer’s Research. While we support our philanthropies with unrestricted gifts, Sigma Kappa’s philanthropies each have a tie to our values and traditions that create a unique philanthropic environment in which everyone can participate.

Kappa Pi hosts several events each year in order to honor and help these worthy philanthropies, such as: Sigma Kappachino, Week of Giving, "Boots, Bags, and BBQ" - a cornhole tournament, a Bubble Soccer Tournament, Cupcakes for Charity, Service Saturdays, the annual Walk to End Alzheimers, Campus Recycling Initiatives, Supply Drives, and many other campus events.

In October of 2016, our chapter raised more than double we had ever before for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. We were able to donate $33,000 to the Alzheimer's Association!

Philanthropy events hosted by Sigma Kappa, Kappa Pi, are open to the community and we encourage all members to join us in our efforts to support these causes.
