Chapter Philanthropy

Sigma Kappa supports the following five philanthropic endeavors: the Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inherit the Earth, Gerontology Research, the Maine Sea Coast Mission, and the Alzheimer’s Association. Nationally, Sigma Kappa is known for its commitment to Gerontology and Alzheimer’s Research. While we support our philanthropies with unrestricted gifts, Sigma Kappa’s philanthropies each have a tie to our values and traditions that create a unique philanthropic environment in which everyone can participate.

Kappa Pi hosts several events each year in order to honor and help these worthy philanthropies, such as: Sigma Kappachino, Week of Giving, "Tombstone Toss" - a cornhole tournament, Pearls and Poker, Brook's Blossoms, Service Saturdays, the annual Walk to End Alzheimers, Campus Recycling Initiatives, Supply Drives, and many other campus events.

In October of 2018, our chapter raised close to $50,000 for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. We're hoping to hit or surpass that amount in 2019!

Philanthropy events hosted by Sigma Kappa, Kappa Pi, are open to the community and we encourage all members to join us in our efforts to support these causes.
